Jon is a lifelong musician, beginning his work with the keyboard at the age of four. Born into a musical family – his father was a music teacher – he performed with his family all through his childhood. He spent the school year in Long Island, but as soon as summer came they took off for Rhode Island. With his three siblings and his parents, Jon played and sang with a folk group known as the Dalton Family Singers at events and festivals in Rhode Island and up into other New England States. He and his two brothers and his sister, who all have names that begin with J, sang and played instruments. How wonderful it would be to see a video of them playing, his mother with her hammered dulcimer, Jon with a guitar or banjo, and the rest on bass or string dulcimer. One time they performed in Stowe, Vermont where the member of another family singing group lived, none other than Maria Van Trapp, who actually wrote them a gracious welcoming letter.
