Giving

Unitarian Universalist churches are supported primarily by the free-will gifts of members and supporting friends. There are no required minimum or maximum to member and friends' gifts. We receive no income from outside agencies or denominational offices.

Offerings: As part of our weekly worship, an offering basket is distributed through the congregation. Please add your gift at that time. Envelopes are provided if you are making a cash gift and would like it to be recorded. Offerings may also be mailed to the church Treasurer at any time.

Pledging: It is our custom to solicit pledges each winter to provide financial underwriting of the congregation's ministries. A pledge is a voluntary statement of one's intention to make gifts to UUCFM in the course of our fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). Most members prefer to pay their pledge in monthly installments, either by placing a check in the Sunday Offering basket or via mail to the church Treasurer. The church will provide a record of your giving each January.

What is a Fair Gift? The simple answer: give from your heart, as you are able, to the level which makes you proud to support the free church. More practically, the Finance Committee each year prepares a scaled or proportional recommended giving suggestion. The simplest way to think about it is: 3% of your annual adjusted gross income. A pledge may be made at any time for the remainder of the fiscal year.

What does my gift provide? Your voluntary gift to UUCFM allows the church to offer a wide variety of services, including those of our minister, religious educator, and music director. Your gift ensures that we will have supplies adequate to our needs, public witness to the larger community, and to maintain or improve our physical plant and to ensure the upkeep of our beautiful campus. Your gift also goes toward the salaries of our support staff and payment of dues to the UUA and Florida Districts.

Other Giving

Memorial Gifts: The church accepts gifts of material property, stock, or other donations to memorialize members. A Memorial Book provides an enduring record of all such gifts.

Legacy Gifts: The church accepts dedicated and unrestricted gifts, bequests and trusts to its endowment at any time. For further information on trusts or deferred giving, please contact our Treasurer or the Vice-President of Finance.
