Our Members Support Local Food Pantry

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers belongs to an interfaith coalition of churches that operates the South Fort Myers Food Pantry.  In 2008 there were no pantries to help those in need of food in the  South Fort Myers area.  These churches recognized the need, worked  together and opened a pantry in July of 2008.  It is located behind the Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church on Cypress Lake Drive and is open every Monday.  Recipients may come every other week.  Food donations from the coalition churches are delivered on Monday as well as a large order from the  Harry Chapin Food Bank.  This food is sorted, shelved, bagged and distributed   All this is done by volunteers every Monday.  The dedication shown by our members who either serve as volunteers or support the pantry with contributions of food and/or money is evidence of  UUCFM's commitment to social action and community outreach.
